Western Energy Solutions is founded by the father and son team of Wesley and Gregory Bilson. They employ 40 years of real estate development experience and five years of experience researching viability and formulating initial plans for waste to energy projects. After decades of developing commercial and residential real estate with an emphasis on complex medical and hospital projects, the team has shifted gears and spent the last five years committed to conversion technologies. The company is developing their initial conversion technology project to be located in the Southwestern United States.

Western Energy Solutions aims to provide a better, more responsible way to remediate waste than is currently practiced. Utilizing best available waste to energy technology, the first project will convert biomass to clean, renewable, and certified-green electricity and biochar. This initial project uses a proprietary pyrolysis conversion technology combined with the most efficient generators available to produce power. The company’s standards for best available technology reach beyond economics. The company believes that a project should not only be economically viable, but should also be efficient, renewable, and responsible.

Although pyrolysis has been used commercially for over a hundred years and is currently employed in Europe and Asia, as of 2010 there are no full scale pyrolysis power projects in the US. To prove the advanced proprietary technology being utilized and provide our company with valuable experience, Western Energy Solutions will construct a full scale, but modestly sized (2MW) reference plant. Our plan is to follow this reference project with larger scale facilities.
